Transfer Opportunities and Partners

• At least 12 semester hours must be earned at Coastline to establish residency.
• Complete 60 units of acceptable required and elective course work at one or more regionally accredited institution. A maximum of up to 40 semester hours of non-traditional course work including military experience & schooling, CLEP/DSST or ECE test scores may be awarded.
• At least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) at Coastline College and overall 2.0 GPA from other college(s) attended are required. To calculate your GPA, click here (pdf).
• Forward official college and military transcripts to Coastline College.
• Be in good academic standing (not on probation and/or disqualification) during the semester in which graduation is petitioned.
• Complete the specific General Education Requirements as listed in Groups A-E according to your specific degree plan. To view chart, click here (pdf).
• Complete at least 2.5 sh’s of Global and Multicultural Studies Requirement (pdf).

Under the Option I Degree Plan, Coastline has developed rating/MOS-related degree roadmaps guiding military personnel toward completion of an AA degree. Coastline awards credit hours for military training and experience, up to a maximum of 40, utilizing ACE recommended guidelines. Depending on a servicemember’s occupation and rank, awarded credit may fulfill the credit hour requirements toward a specific major or emphasis for one of our degrees.

Based on the Option I rate-related degree program, an A.A. degree may be earned upon the completion of 60 credit hours, with a minimum of 12 credit hours taken from Coastline, and fulfillment of specific requirements as outlined above.

While the Option I rate/MOS-related degree plan is designed for a student whose immediate goal is to obtain an AA Degree, additional general education coursework may be necessary for those who intend to pursue a 4-year degree. Once all requirements are met to earn the Option I AA degree, it is recommended that students continue to take additional general education courses at Coastline to prepare for transfer to a 4-year institution. Although, this option is primarily for students who do not intend to transfer, it may be used to transfer to some independent colleges. It is always recommended that you check with the transferring institution.
