About the PocketEd/PDA Program
Coastline’s Mobile PocketEd Program is designed for students who want a portable education, flexible course schedule and multiple course start dates. Mobile PocketEd courses are also perfect for those students who have little to no Internet access.
With eleven 12-week terms per year, the Mobile PocketEd Program provides students the opportunity to complete their degrees without any breaks due to deployment or for those who want to complete their degrees sooner.
For more information regarding the Mobile PocketEd Program, please contact CCCMobile@coastline.edu or (714) 241-6326 x16634.
Mobile PocketEd courses are designed to be completed in 12 weeks and start the first of every month, except for January.
View Steps to Register for registration dates.
All courses are delivered on a 2GB microSD Flash Memory Card (SD and miniSD adapters included) providing the syllabus, reading assignments, and lessons.
In order to complete a Mobile PocketEd course, you will need access to one of the following devices:
- personal computer
- personal handheld device
- card reader that supports a microSD, miniSD or standard SD storage disk
If you do not have an electronic device that supports an SD storage disk, send an email to CCCMobile@coastline.edu and ask about our PDA Loan Device Program.
All assignments are paper based and students work on assignments at their own pace, within the 12-week schedule.
For more information on course assignments, view or print Mobile Course Assignments.
All Mobile courses require a proctor to administer course exams. A proctor is an individual who administers and supervises the student while they are taking the exam. The proctor's function is to ensure the integrity and security of the exam in a secure environment. It will be the student's responsibility to identify a test proctor.
For a list of approved proctors, review Steps to Register, Step 4
Students are required to purchase a course packet, which includes course SD storage disk and textbook, prior to the course start date. Once you receive your course materials you may begin working on your course assignments. Your proctor should receive your exam packet prior to the course start date.
Course packets and textbooks can be purchased through MBS.
Students should order early to avoid the rush. The MBS Virtual Bookstore will ship to APO/FPO addresses, but UPS ground is available for the continental U.S. Students pay online at the MBS Virtual Bookstore with debit/credit cards.
A few steps must be completed in order to register for a Mobile PocketEd course. To view each step and to process your enrollment, visit Apply and Register.
If you need to drop your Mobile PocketEd course, please review the drop policy.
A student who has officially registered assumes full responsibility for completing each course in which she or he has registered. If a course drop/withdrawal is necessary, it is the student's responsibility to do so by completing the online PocketEd Drop Request Form.
*Students studying aboard ships with the NCPACE programs may not be eligible for the PocketEd Program and are advised to check with their local NCPACE site representative before enrolling.
