Coastline offers three types of Associate's Degrees. The CSU pathway is designed primarily for transfer to the California State University system. The IGETC pathway is designed for transfer to the California State University system, the University of California system, and select private colleges. Coastline's Option 1 degree is the pathway that most of our Military Program students are on. It allows us the most flexibility in terms of application of military and other non-traditional credits, and it requires just 18 units of General Education coursework.
Coastline has partnered with several colleges and universities to enable you to transfer your Coastline Associate's degree into one of their Bachelor's degree programs with ease. Our partner schools are all affiliated with Servicemember's Opportunity Colleges (SOC), regionally accredited, and will accept Coastline's credits in transfer. Some of our partner schools accept our Option 1 degree and will not require you to complete additional General Education or pre-major coursework beyond the requirements you complete as part of your Option 1 pathway. Most of our partner schools, however, do require additional General Education coursework beyond Coastline's minimum requirements for acceptance as a Junior in their Bachelor's degree programs. This means that if you would like to transfer into a Bachelor's degree program, you should be prepared to have several additional General Education courses to complete in order to fully prepare for transfer.
Students who would like to find out where they stand in terms of preparation and planning for transfer to a CSU, UC, or one of our partner schools may request an Evaluation for Transfer Readiness. Note that evaluations can take 3-4 weeks to prepare, so please plan ahead.
Note: Transfer agreements are subject to ongoing review and revision. The roadmaps listed on these pages represent agreements at the time of publication.
