Coastline offers an Option 3/IGETC Transfer degree for students interested in transfer to the University of California (UC) system. The UC system consists of 10 campuses located throughout California. The majority of the UC's programs are campus-based programs, so they are primarily designed for students who will be located at the campus location for the duration of their degree program.
The IGETC provides a pattern of courses that fulfills the transfer general education requirements at both the University of California and the California State University. Upon completion of this General Education pattern, students may qualify for a Certificate of Achievement in Intersegmental General Education Transfer (IGETC) and IGETC Certification of General Education. (Note that the IGETC pattern is not recommended for all majors. Please see www.assist.org for more information.) In addition to the General Education requirements, students must complete the additional requirements for the Associates Degree as listed in the college catalog. Option 3/IGETC requires completion of at least 37 units of General Education courses plus a Major and/or elective units (numbered C100–C229) to total 60 units.
Please note that the UC system's acceptance of military/ACE credits is limited. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about how your credits will transfer to a UC campus.
Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) Information
Seven UC campuses offer guaranteed admission to California community college students who meet specific requirements. By participating in a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program, students receive early review of their academic records, early admission notification, and specific guidance about major preparation and general education coursework.
