SECOME 2018 Scholarships

The Southeastern Council on Military Education (SECOME) will be awarding $750 - $1500 scholarships to qualifying individuals. The 2018 SECOME goal is to award $20,000 in scholarships! Applications and requested materials must be submitted and received by SECOME no later than 15 June 2018.

Coastline College Foundation Scholarship Opportunities

Please note: Coastline Military students are eligible to receive a scholarship even if they get TA, and are exempt from the ceremony attendance requirement.

Every year, Coastline Community College Foundation offers a variety of scholarships for Active Duty, Veterans, their spouses and dependents. Scholarships are made available through the generous donations of Coastline Community College’s Foundation, Associated Student Government (ASG), faculty, staff, local businesses, service organizations, and private individuals. Scholarship awards will vary in amount and criteria.

Scholarship recipients are selected by the Scholarship Awards Committee. Factors for selection may include academic achievement, service and leadership, college and community involvement, and/or financial need.

The 2018 Coastline Scholarship application will be available to students through February 12, 2018. Apply now!

2018 Virginia Advisory County on Military Education – SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The deadline is March 1, 2018, and the scholarship categories are: Active duty, drilling reservist, or National Guard member; Spouse of active duty, drilling reservist, National Guard member, or military retiree; Child of active duty, drilling reservist, National Guard member, or military retiree; Permanently disabled military member or family member (spouse or child) or family member of service member missing/killed in action; and Veteran or retiree of the Armed Forces. Applications must be submitted to by March 1, 2018. Awardees are notified by phone or email on or about March 15, 2018. VA-ACME is a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to support the education of our armed service members and their families. NAIMES Student Spotlight Award

Each year, the National Association of Institutions for Military Education Services (NAIMES) offers five $1200 scholarships to service members (active duty/veterans) and military spouses to celebrate student achievements across the Armed Forces.  All applicants must submit an application, resume and essay by the deadline.  Applications are usually available between June 15 and September 15.  For scholarship requirements and application, please visit the NAIMES Student Spotlight Award website.

CCME Scholarships

Each year, the Council of College & Military Educators (CCME) offers fifteen $1000 scholarships to service members (active duty/veterans) and military spouses who are working toward the completion of higher education degrees. All applicants must submit the CCME Scholarship Application, transcripts, and two recommendation forms by the deadline.  Applications are usually available between July 1 and November 1.  For scholarship requirements and application, please visit the CCME's website.

AMVETS National Scholarship Program

AMVETS offers a variety of scholarships, ranging from $1,000-$4,000. Children and grandchildren of veterans, as well as vets themselves, are eligible. 

Children of Warriors National Presidents' Scholarship

Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of service members are eligible for these scholarships offered through the American Legion Auxiliary. Awards range from $2,500 to $3,500. 

Fisher House Foundation

Students under 23 who are enrolling in a full-time college program and who maintain at least a 3.0 GPA are eligible for scholarships through this foundation. Parents need to be active duty or retired military.

Coast Guard Foundation Grants

Coast Guard Foundation (CGFEG) and Vander Putten Education Grants(VPEG) are available for all Active Duty enlisted personnel pursuing higher education by providing reimbursements for many costs that may not be covered by tuition assistance. For CGFEG, the maximum reimbursement per calendar year is $500.00. For VPEG, the maximum reimbursement per calendar year is $250.00.  For additional information and application, please visit Coast Guard Foundation Grants.

CGMA Supplemental Education Grant (SEG)

The Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) Supplemental Education Grant (SEG) offers awards of up to $250.00 per year to help defray non-tuition educational costs that are required for course(s) that a student is taking. All interested applicants can submit multiple grant requests during the calendar year as long as the total isn’t more than $250.00.  Visit your command’s CGMA representative or the CGMA website for an application.

Jack Kent Cooke Scholarships

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship provides up to $30,000 per year for up to 75 students from a nationwide applicant pool who plan to transfer to top four-year colleges or universities next fall. To be eligible, applicants must be current students at accredited US community colleges or two-year institutions with sophomore status or have graduated within the last five years. They must have a cumulative college GPA of 3.5 or above, plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to begin studies in the coming fall, and demonstrate unmet financial need.
